Error with inbox message count

New/Beta channels: video navigator not appearing for some users

Hey folks!

We've seen some of you with the new channel design mention that you're unable to get the featured video and video options to appear at the top of your channel. We're aware of this issue and working hard to make sure you're all able to see the video navigation module at the top of your channel.

An update on Video View Counts

Hi everyone,

Recently we have seen questions about why some YouTube video view counts "freeze" around 300 views. To help prevent confusion, we wanted to post a quick explanation of what's going on. View counts are extremely important to our community, so we work hard to ensure those view counts are accurate. Occasionally, when a video becomes popular quickly, it takes our computers longer to make sure those views are accurate. This means a video's viewcount may not update for several hours, sometimes allowing ratings and comments on the same video to climb temporarily higher than the views. So if you see your video views aren't moving, or that your video's comments and ratings are moving faster than your views, don't worry. If you're still getting views, the count should update soon.

Trouble adding videos to your playlist?

Hey guys,

We've seen many of you report that you're having trouble adding videos to your playlists (from the new/beta channels). The issue's been reported to our engineers, and the team's currently working on resolving the situation. Once they've found a fix, you will be able to add videos to your playlists again.

New channel update (July 11th, 2009)

Hi everyone,

Today the team made an announcement regarding new channels on the YouTube blog ( I've included the information below. You can also check out our Help Center article ( for updates on new channels and instructions on how to customize your channel (if you have the new channel layout).

We want to give you a heads up that we're changing the day on which we'll move all remaining channels over to the new version. Why? Well, July 15th is almost here, and we realized that we still have a few bugs and things left on the to-do list.

Specifically, here's what we plan to do before we roll the new version out to all remaining channels:

*** Add transparency (now done)
*** Fix some browser-specific layout bugs - in particular, IE6 has a few issues right now
*** Allow you to default your channel to "grid" view
*** Allow you to re-order your uploads & playlists
*** Fixes for some of the other bugs you've helped find (such as grid view not always working in IE), and other small things

So when's the new date? That part's a little trickier - rather than try to predict it, we'd rather focus our time on taking care of the above list. But we'll announce the new date no less than 2 weeks before it happens - and yes, it's still coming this summer. Keep an eye out here or on our beta blog ( Thanks!

Some videos shortened after AudioSwap

Hi everyone,

Quick update on AudioSwap. We've seen many of you express that you're having trouble with videos that were AudioSwapped: namely that these videos have been truncated (shortened). Sometimes, it appears that the videos are shortened to 1 minute 47 seconds.

The team here is aware of the issue and is currently working on a fix.

Forum bug: user levels dropping to "Level 1"

Hi everyone,

As some of you may have noticed, your user "level" in the Help Forum may have dropped over the past couple days. This is a bug on our end- you didn't do anything to cause your level to go down.

Our engineering team's aware of this bug, and is currently trying to find a fix for this situation. Once the bug's resolved you will return to the previous Help Forum level you had earlier this week (prior to the bug).
